Her mother wants Charlotte to wear her black and white pullout - what is a pullout? I've tried to google what style dress a pullout is and I can't find anything.

LOL!

So many times I watch films and just think,"What did they say?" That's where closed captioning is helpful.

Her mother said, "Wear your black and white foulard."

So then I looked up "Foulard"- it is a thin, soft material of silk or silk and cotton, typically having a printed pattern.

Whatever did we do before the internet?

I wonder if the mother was talking about that print dress Bette wore during the opening scenes...

There was a dress on her bed when she came back home that needed to have final alterations; it was a black and white floral print.

Ah, now I see it (I just double-checked the film)---quite different than the dress in the opening scenes.

Went to the library and opened books, or consulted the set of encyclopedias on our bookshelves at home. That's what we did before the Internet.
