UK Version of The Major and the Minor

Can anyone help? My grandad aged 86 absolutely loves Ginger Rogers films but one of his all time favourites is 'The Major and The Minor' and he is devastated that we cannot get hold of a copy here in the UK. He has a DVD Player which can play any region but unfortunately it seems that they may have only ever released it on American VHS - any ideas would be most welcome as to how I may be able to get hold of a copy which we can play in the UK?

Thanks Michelle

It looks as if you'll have to buy an American VHS copy (that's what I did). Just about all UK VCRs now have a NTSC playback. Check eBay and Amazon.com. A DVD released of this would be nice, though.

It's playing right now at the National Film Theatre in London as part of a Billy Wilder season - in fact I was just on my way to post a comment when I stopped to read this appendix. If you get in touch with the NFT/BFI they may tell you if it's possible to buy a version in the UK.

This fantastic film is currently available in the UK as part of a Ginger Rogers boxset and it will also be included in a forthcoming Billy Wilder boxset.

For those who wanted "The Major And The Minor" on UK DVD, it's now available in a 2-disc set with "Bachelor Mother". Naturally, there's a drawback if you want the latter film since Universal have opted to include an unwatchable colourized version, while the packaging tells you it's in black and white. To add insult to injury, the sound is pretty dodgy too. All round, a pretty serious own goal for Universal, and a poke in the eye for movie fans from an indifferent faceless corporation.

Is The Major and the Minor fine, though, and how are they packaged? Are there separate cases? Could I perhaps just toss "Bachelor Mother" away and put TMaTM alone next to my Double Indemnity?

Good, thanks. I'd really like to know about the packaging, though (what with the lack of pictures everywhere). Are the two discs in one, say, double-disc case or something, or are there two normal dvd cases in a, well, box, according to this principle: http://www.peco-uk.com/images/RM%20Slipcase.jpg (which would be the ideal scenario)
