A Great American Film

I know it's propaganda and BS, and America has done a lot of things wrong (the Battle Flag, Police brutality, racism) but can't you just set everything aside for a couple of hours and really look at this film?? In my opinion this is THE Great American film, and I am not a great supporter of America. I'm a Vietnam vet draftee who was played for a sucker and am lucky I got out of Vietnam alive and in one piece(Khe Sahn, Ah Sha Valley, Hue and the rest were hairy) but when I look at the movie Sgt. York from the opening with Walter Brennan in the pulpit to the end with Gary Cooper getting his bottom land, my heart swells with pride at the love of country this movie inspires. Not a black face or person of color in the cast. Where I was born in north central Kansas 30 miles from Nebraska I heard it said many times "if you're a person of color don't let the sun set on you". This is the world I grew up in (all white). Everything is wrong, but I love it! Does that make sense?!? Do you hear me?!? This is my Country! I love it! God Bless Alvin York and all he signifies. Bet he wondered what he was doing half a world away fighting in Europe? Like me fighting in Vietnam, why?? Joan Leslie is SO beautiful and lovely. Every man's dream. A woman to fight and die for. Her eyes, her lips, her hair. God! She's gorgeous, and will be forever in this film. I love Joan Leslie, Ma York, Ward Bond, Noah Beery Jr., even Guy Wilkerson Tex Ritter's original sidekick. I love them all. I've wanted to own this film as long as I can remember. It came yesterday, all the way from Korea (isn't that strange???) Sgt. York and I are gonna spend a lot of time together. I played war a lot from age 7-11, then I was in the U.S. Army for real. Sgt. York and I are Blood Brothers. John
