Shoulder Braid
In the New York scenes...Cooper is wearing a braid on his left shoulder. Is this related to the Congressional Medal Of Honor ?

Thanks...... I thought is was a braid.
shareNo problem.
shareWhen did ribbons replace regular medals ? I see from the photo you sent York was not wearing his Congressional Medal Of Honor. I guess later on they had a chest ribbon to represent it.
shareAll medals (including the Medal of Honor) have a corresponding ribbon which is the same color and design as the cloth that holds the medal. But there are also ribbons that have no medal.
Medals are usually worn for ceremonial or special occasions where the full sized medals are worn on the left breast and the ribbons that have no medal are worn on the right. Otherwise, when in regular or working uniform all ribbons will be worn on the left breast.
Here is a photo of three Vietnam era medals. The medals are on the bottom and their corresponding ribbons are above them. If the individual was wearing their regular working uniform (except utilities or combat uniform) they would wear the ribbons. If they wearing a dress uniform they would wear the full medal.

Does that make sense?

The award is correctly called the Medal of Honor; there is no "Congressional" Medal of Honor.
