The Corn Is Green

Seems to me that the TCIG was sort of riding the wave of HGWMV. Alot of the same components in each movie. Was TCIG Warner Brothers' answer to 20th Century's HGWMV?

THE CORN IS GREEN was a play by Emlyn Williams. It became a great triumph for Ethel Barrymore, both on Broadway and on tour. I assume the much younger Bette Davis got the movie version because she was a bigger movie name than Ms. Barrymore. Rhys Williams, who played Dai Bando in GREEN also appears in CORN.

The Corn is Green is marvelous in its own unique way. In additon to the Bette Davis film, there was a 1979 TV version which George Cukor directed and which starred katharine Hepburn. She was a wonderful as ever!
