Does not deserve vilification for beating 'Citizen Kane'

Citizen Kane is a brilliant film of course. But I do feel this film gets unfair vilification for beating it at the Oscars. It's a perfectly fine motion picture in its own right. Totally deserving of its wins just in the realm of quality.

I agree...Kane was a good film but the best ever?...i just dont get it...try Lawrence of Arabia (1962),The General (1927), or The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957)

HGWMV is one of the greatest movies ever made, and I'm watching it right now, for probably the 30th time, at least.

Was never impressed with Citizen Kane, nor any of Orson Welles films, really.

Appreciating films is all about perspective and taste, so everyone is entitled to their own opinions. But to me, awards mean nothing.

And IMO, Donald Crisp's performance is unbelievably better than Mr. Welles in Citizen Kane.

But again, it's just a matter of taste of the individual.

Generosity, that was my first mistake
