High Sierra's Twin.....

Just watch Clorado Territory 1949, with Joel McCrae and Virginia Mayo. Also directed by Walsh. The story line is almost identical. I saw Colorado Territory first, and loved it. I've just now watched High Sierra for the first time, and as soon as Bogart meets Ida I knew somthing was up. Kind of lessened the effect for me. Oh well, If the Duke can make a couple of look-a-likes as well in Rio Bravo, and Eldorado, I guess it's alright.

"High Sierra" was also remade in color, in 1955, as "I Died a Thousand Times", with Jack Palance playing Roy Earle. Much as I admire Mr. Palance, he just couldn't hold a candle to Bogart.

...You're right--Jack Palance COULDN'T "hold a candle to" Humphrey Bogart, doing the same material previously done by Bogie. But neither could HIS diabolical, hired gunman role in "Shane" be equalled by Bogie or anyone else. Of course, it didn't hurt that Palance's leathery facial skin, acquired from an old war wound, enhanced his performance in the kind of menacing roles he played...

Sorry, i dont know if somebody replied to your initial question but Clorado Territory is a remake of High Sierra. That's why Walsh directed it.
