Sped up film just looks silly!

Dumb car chase. Too bad he didn't pay some teenager to drive the car in the opposite direction while he stole another. Could have bought himself a lot of time.

Yeah because he would totally have the time to do all that with him being a wanted man and anyone with information would have earned a bit of dough if they saw him anywhere. Add to that the coppers were pinning him down bit by bit so having another car would have done nothing and lost him time.

Long and boring car chase, yep. I ended up fast-forwarding through half of it.

I get the feeling that at that time using sped-up filming for action scenes was still the way to go.

This one did look especially silly - cops on big Harleys wouldn't have been able to rip up a twisty gravel road that fast!

I agree. Sped up film is a bad idea. Thunderball is such a good movie, but the climactic boat sequence ruined by the speed up.

I'm guessing you're referring to some of that great cornering that would most likely be a flip at those speeds. Hell! That's part of the fun watching some of these old movies. Those old boats weren't the scooped up rockets that came out later in shows like Thunder Alley. I'm not sure they even had a lot of stunt drivers who could do some pretty amazing driving. Speeding up the film was their version of special effects in the 40's
