Hi,one can never be too rich or have too many friends. Fairly interesting navy fighter flick has kow-key acting all the way,Errol is restrained,Fred MacMurray is as dull as always. Nice color,naval training scenes. Anyway,this is the picture that Errol Flynn supposedly insisted he be filmed in front of secret naval scenes and the fleet at Pearl harbor since he was supposed to be a nazi spy. Since everything in the movie was in the script,including the locations,this seems highly unlikely. Also,Errol wasn't getting along with Michael Curtiz (this was their last film together) so it's doubtful he could have insisted Curtiz shoot secret naval locations or anything else.

Yes, I thought the color was gorgeous for that time period. I am watching the next film after Dive Bomber now and Errol is sporting a mustache. He was a great looking guy.

I just had a look at this film. Odd that a character played by Errol Flynn, who was born in Australia, seemed to be taking credit for the original anti-G suit which was invented by Professor Frank Cotton of Sydney University in 1940 after extensive work through the 1930s.

There is little evidence that Errol was actually a Nazi. The allegations first appeared in Charles Higham's controversial 1980 biography Errol Flynn: The Untold Story which alleges he was also bisexual and had affairs with Howard Hughes and fellow swashbuckler Tyrone Power.

They had not appeared before and were refuted as fabrications by Tony Thomas in Errol Flynn: The Spy Who Never Was and Buster Wiles in My Days With Errol Flynn: The Autobiography of a Stuntman. Both claimed that Errol was notorious as (strictly) a womanizer and was also a left wing sympathizer

The myth of Errol Flynn as a Nazi sympathizer was perpetuated by the lousy 1991 film The Rocketeer, which featured Timothy Dalton as pro-Nazi swashbuckler Neville Sinclair (based on Flynn). From what I understand, Charles Higham's claims have bee refuted.
