Reference to impending WW 2

Evidently writers Frank Wead and others sensed that the U.S. would soon be drawn into World War Two, because in the snappy dialog in mid-film Fred MacMurray (or one of the other commanders) says something to the effect "when the Main Event begins." Although that reference flies past and is quickly lost in a lot of other dialog, it's clear what he means by the boxing phrase "Main Event." I think "sensed" is too weak a word. By the time the movie was released at the end of summer 1941 Britain had been on its own combatting the Nazis for well over a year, the USA had given it lend lease and other assistance, and the Germans sinking US shipping and growing knowledge about Nazi spies in America was turning public opinion fast.
