Gladys Cooper and Hitchcock
When Hitchcock was a young man beautiful photographs of Gladys Cooper were on sale all over London. She was considered the greatest English beauty of her age. Hitchcock and Cooper arrived in Hollywood at the same and time for the same film - Rebecca. Her scenes in Rebecca are tart, sassy and delightful and she and her husband of the film (Nigel Bruce of Dr. Watson fame) add a whole dimension of English humor to the film.
Hitch was a bit in awe of her at first but they became good friends. Late in her life he gave her prominent roles on several of his television shows.
