Rebecca or Laura

Which film is better, Rebecca or Laura ?

I just watched Rebecca and enjoyed it. I haven't seen Laura, for years. I wonder if the two films/plots/characters, were wrapped up into one, it/they, would be a masterpiece.

Rebecca... I get bored at some points in Laura.

I agree. Laura gets boring a few times throughout the film. My vote goes to Rebecca.

I'd give "Rebecca" and "Laura" A-plus ratings. They both ought to be required viewing. I see no need to choose between them.

Funny... I saw Rebecca again recently and it is the stronger film imo. Laura is fantastic noir as well but Rebecca is pretty much perfect from beginning to end. There is not one scene wasted. It also has what I consider, probably the best ending to a Hitchcock film. Weird what rewatching a film can do. I probably rank Rebecca as THE Hitchcock film now.. it's between that and Psycho. Rebecca is art.

Both have some similar elements (people talking about "dead" woman etc), now that I think about it...
I think Rebecca is a better film. But Laura is real fun and memorable too.

Laura was a decent film with one standout element -- Clifton Webb's performance -- but otherwise unremarkable.
Rebecca is a bona-fide classic, one of the all-time greats, and my personal favorite Hitchcock film.

I love both films but would give Rebecca the edge.

Laura does have that brilliant score and a wonderful performance by Clifton Webb.

They are so different in every way that a comparison is impossible. It's like asking "who is better, Pavarotti or the Green Bay Packers?"
