He didn't think he deserved the Academy Award for this and felt they gave it to him to make up for him not getting it for Mr. Smith Goes to Washington. I have to be honest, I loved Fredric March in The Best Years of Our Lives. But Jimmy Stewart should've won for It's a Wonderful Life. I think that performance was better than his great performance in Mr. Smith Goes to Washington. And it was way better than his performance in Philadelphia Story.

I agree in part . . . however, I think the Academy loved that drunk sequence, the way it was sustained . . .

I like Stewart best in Anatomy Of A Murder and Vertigo. He's fun to watch in Washington, Wonderful and Philly Story too though.
