This Movie Will Be on ( again ) ...

I haven't seen The Mummy's Hand for a few years but it is a very good movie. It has a lot of action and comedy and is quite entertaining. B-Western Star/champion weight lifter Tom Tyler plays The Mummy. 

It will be good to see Wallace Ford as a fairly young actor. He was 42 when he made this one. I primarily remember him from the 1959-1960 TV series The Deputy, where he played Sheriff Herk Lamson. He was also the guest star in one of the most memorable Andy Griffith Show episodes, Aunt Bee's Romance. 💏

Wallace Ford really had a tough early life. He was born Samuel Jones in England in 1898, but his parents gave him up for adoption and he spent the first few years of his life in an orphanage and in 17 different foster homes. He was eventually sent to an orphanage in Canada. He ran away at the age of 11 and joined a vaudeville troupe called The Winnipeg Kiddies. In 1909 he and his best friend, Wallace Ford, became hoboes and rode the rails into the United States. After his friend was killed when he was crushed by a railroad car, Sam began using the name Wallace Ford as a tribute to him.

Eventually, Wallace got back into show business and made his way to Hollywood, where he became a successful character actor. In 1942, he became a United States citizen and on the same day legally changed his name to Wallace Ford. By all accounts, he was a very nice guy and fun to be around on the set. His wife of 44 years, Martha, died in 1966. Wallace Ford died of a heart attack shortly after that, also in 1966.
