Was anyone else suprised (spoiler)
...when the comic relief character did, in fact, shoot an unarmed man in cold blood?

shareThe first time I saw "The Mummy's Hand" I too thought Babe (Wallace Ford)
shot Andoheb (George Zucco) down in cold blood.
But the next time I watched it... I saw that Andoheb took a gun out a drawer
and hid it under the sleeve of his robe.
And then when Babe confronted Andoheb, Andoheb shot first, hitting Babe in the
arm...and then Babe shot back at Andoheb mortally wounded him and he fell down
the temple steps.
ahh, missed that completely
share(sequel spoiler) You can always console yourself with the fact that the George Zucco character, Andoheb, actually survives, and pops up in the next, not one, but TWO sequels as the same character, while Wallace Ford's character gets killed in the next movie.
shareI always wondered what happened to Babe's arm. I never noticed that Andoheb actually managed to shoot first. I'll watch that more carefully next time.

I thought it was pretty funny that the villain shot first and yet missed fatally wounding Babe. I mean, he was acting so smug, shot first, and messed it all up. Even funnier that Babe had the foresight to knock over the mummy's tea instead of trying to fight the mummy like our dumb hero.
shareI guess Greedo learned to shoot from Andoheb...
shareHaha good one. I was thinking the exact same thing when reading through this thread and was going to post something similar. Like "Babe shot first" or something.

yes that scene stands out, i was really surprised about the comedic tone this has, i thought that was left entirely to the abbott and costello one. opening setting looks just like another mummy flick, next setting when a man runs in town and yells steve, its like you ended up in another movie.
wasp woman, comes out in the sun,
on the green grass with sound of a buzz,
wasp woman six ft tall,
many arms and legs you got,
in the backyard there in profile on this ground,
i happened to discover the one,
wasp woman as summer come around,
buzzing till the sun go down.
Yes, I was. I didn't think he'd have the courage to actually shoot someone.
