Reminds me of the Black Lives Matter Movement

As I watch this movie in August 2020, I can't help but be struck by the similarities of the country being swept up in the Nazi frenzy with the BLM movement of today. The way they all stood up to sing the Nazi anthem in the bar, and Margaret Sullavan and Jimmy Stewart were pressured to reluctantly stand even though they didn't want to? It's just like the kneeling during the anthem protests at athletic events today. Athletes are pressured to kneel to show support for this cause, even if they don't really want to, and if they don't they are completely annihilated by the press and social media. If they don't kneel, they are inundated with questions - do you not support black lives? Do you not think the police are thugs who should be defunded? How could you disagree in any way from our mainstream thought?

In the movie, the poor guy who said, surely I have the freedom not to sing your song if I don't want to, then got beat up when he left the bar? That's where we are going soon in this country I'm afraid.
