The WashPost reported this week:
The United States will suffer a series of severe droughts in the next two decades, according to a new study published in the journal Nature Climate Change. Moreover, global warming will play an increasingly important role in their abundance and severity, claims Aiguo Dai, the study’s author.
His findings bolster conclusions from climate models used by researchers around the globe that have predicted severe and widespread droughts in coming decades over many land areas…
“We can now be more confident that the models are correct,” Dai said, “but unfortunately, their predictions are dire.

It should be no secret. The dust is encroaching on the plains again. I've seen desertification of land that was green just 10 years ago.
There was a monumental terraforming and conservation effort after the Dust Bowl to repair the American plains states, but there is nothing we can do against nature's severe trends when they are underway. Just like 80 years ago, we won't be able to protect before it starts, only repair after it is over.

Okies won't be the only ones hit hardest this time. Famine and food shortages look to be the biggest issue of the 2020s.

dust bowl wont happen again due to crop rotation. No matter who is predicting climate and all that. climate changes affect earth globally and not locally per se! United states would be all right! These days there is abundance of agriculture all around the world except africa! If only world could distribute food right, even they would have issues. A sumptuous dinner in vietnam cost 25 to 30 cents max( would cost 20 bucks in usa!).
The dust bowl is once in a 1000 years phenomenon and may be more!
