I have to admit, if I were a teenage girl today I probably would not enjoy the movie either. I wouldn't call them insane. Teenagers just have different tastes which they're entitled to (no matter how bad it is).

shareI was 17 in 1959 as I sat listening to a Jewish classmate making a presentation on the Holocaust and thinking "For Chrissakes, Nancy, that was 14 freakin' YEARS ago!"
There's soooo much to learn at that age and, by the time we've caught up with TODAY, it's time for bed.

The first time I watched it, I was 17 and totally loved the film. I recently re-watched and was even more impressed, I've forgotten some details (I'm now twenty).
It's not a surprise I've been an outcast during my teen years, I can't imagine any teen I've met sitting through this film. Well, they're the ones who are missing a great spectacle!

I'm actually surprised that many girls under 18 came onto IMDB after not liking the film to rate it? There's so many I didn't care for that never got a vote from me. I'd love to discuss the film with any of those low raters. Why did they even watch it?
shareYoung people tend to dislike older movies for one reason or another. I try to give all movies a fair try and not segregate them by age, though i do sometimes prefer newer movies. I am 24 so i do not fall into pre-18 category.
There are classics i lvoed and there are ones that i didnt, same goes for modern movies, and thats ok, thats called having an opinion. Personally i found this movie rather poor, for comparison, i recently watched Treasure Of Siera Madre (1936, i think) and loved it.
