A tremendous performance by John Qualen!

It's a shame that the character Muley was only featured in the outset; John Qualen's performance was the best in the film!

I don't know if it was the best, but it was a great performance. In the scenes in the Joad's house (or what was the Joad's house), he seems like he's someone who's about on the verge of being placed in a psychiatric hospital. The scenes at his former home, he seems more rational and you can easily understand how a seemingly sane man got to the point of living like he is when we first meet him.

Qualen's scene was so powerful and visceral! 75 years later it still resonates.
