Does anyone know who the actress was that portrayed the tall, tough talking
woman who the (maid? ranch hand? whatever?) at the Reno Ranch?
Was it the actress who portrayed the prison matron in the film "Caged" (1950)?
Marjorie Main better known for her role as Ma Kettle. I personally love her in Meet Me In St. Louis.
As for Caged I can't recall if Marjorie Main was in there or not.

If you like Hope Emerson's work I heartily suggest a little film called "Westward the Women." She has a super part in that. In fact, the whole film is great.

Indeed -- maybe with that short they made about the film when it was released. In the meantime, I have it on DVD-R recorded (uncut) from TMC.
Not the short, just the movie!
I loved Marjorie's line, "Leave 'em enjoy themselves!" during the fight between Paulette Goddard and Rosiland Russell.
And, "You know how them big, red-headed men are -- they just got to get to the point."

Westward the Women is only available on DVD in Region 2. What does it take to get TCM to put it out in the US?
