I agree. She had to fight for everything all her life and she learned how to roll with the punches. And she was well aware of how much these women despised her. She wasn't about to give them the satisfaction of seeing her show fear or defeat. She was going down with all flags flying.
Also, I think she knew in her heart that she wouldn't really have to go back to the perfume counter. Stephen was a big softie and, despite her infidelity with Buck Winston, he really wouldn't cast her out on the street with nothing. She'd get some kind of alimony or a modest settlement from him, especially if she cooperated with a very quick and quiet divorce so that he could re-marry Mary as soon as possible. And if nothing else, she still had the furs, jewels and other baubles he'd given her, which she could easily convert to cash.
With a fancy wardrobe and a little nest egg, she could move on to another town and snag another rich husband. Hopefully, she'd be a little more careful about hanging on to the next one!
She was a classic con-artist and didn't get emotionally involved.

The movie has always been a night in the most clique-ish, back-stabbing, one-upmanship gay you could find disguised as a heterosexual movie. It's why the movie has been a gay man's essential since the day it was born. Critic George Jean Nathan called the original play "the best argument I've ever seen for homosexuality."
And Crystal's reaction to events at the end probably wasn't all that scary; in addition to the affair with Buck Winston, she probably hadn't put all her eggs in one basket and paid plenty of receptive signals to any number of Stephen's rich friends. She's not really going to be back at any perfume counter.

Thats a classic line and I love this movie-even its Wizard of Oz moment in the
middle with the fashion show in color.
Many speculate why the color all of the sudden without explanation.I think it was probably the designer-he didn't want his work to loose anything being shot in B&W
