“Can you even dye my eyes to match my gown?”

When the main characters are in the Emerald City getting cleaned up, Dorothy says, “Can you even dye my eyes to match my gown?” Was changing one’s eye color a real cosmetic treatment back in the 1930s?

I'm hoping she was talking about eye shadow makeup.

Yeah, that would make sense if that is the nomenclature of the time. It would be odd if there were such a treatment to dye one’s eye color, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there were such a thing back then considering there were things such as radioactive makeup back in the old days that would sound impossible today.

I believe you are referring the the Radium Girls. They worked at a factory painting watch faces with radium for a glowing effect. They applied the radium to their faces as makeup, not knowing the dangers at the time.

Are you trying to be funny or are you on drugs?
