Also, why did The Doc ask The Kid how old he was when he went inside? Never could quite figure that scene out.
Love this movie more every time I see it, the characters are so clever and well played out, especially The Doc and Hatfield.

The Doc asks Ringo about his age for multiple reasons... wondering about his worldliness, his experience with women in particular. And the Doc is wondering what he should say to Ringo about Dallas. The older man decides, wisely, to say nothing. Ringo is old enough to learn for himself, and decide for himself...
shareI dont dispute your assertions but I think he was primarily trying to jog his fogged memory. He had known Ringo as a boy as he goes on to reveal shortly after that.
