Lucy Mallory

Does anyone else think Mrs. Mallory was attracted to Hatfield? There are a few "looks" she gives him before and just after she boards the stagecoach. She also asks about him. Later on she has her head in his lap as the stagecoach continues on toward Lordsburg. It seems out of place since Mrs. Mallory was imminently pregnant and beginning to enter labor.

Hatfield treated Mrs. Mallory in the courtly manner of a southern gentleman which he no doubt was before the war and the loss of his fortune. He boarded the stagecoach only to afford Mrs. Mallory his protection. She recognized the crest on the silver cup and perhaps had a vague recollection of his family. Two lost souls from a lost civilization. She travelling to a new future and he running from the past.
