To me it's a tie between "The Searchers" and "She Wore a Yellow Ribbon." Both were subtle, nuanced performances, though I think he should have won the Oscar for SWAYR.

They should have put him up for She Wore a Yellow Ribbon but instead put him up for Sands Of Iwo Jima,, BUT I doubt anyone was going to beat Broderick Crawford that year
