Funny Dialogue In Some Scenes
This movie has some comedy ! While it's not funny by today's standards, this movie has some lines that were funny for its time in the 30's. Like:
Julie is vivacious but rather being overly dramatic or bitchy/whiney like Scarlett O'Hara, she is nuanced and even funny. She endures some hardships including surviving scandal and losing Preston to Amy but she had a sense of humor and survived well. Some of her funny lines include:
Friend: Child, you can't wear that dress to the Lympus Ball.
Julie: Can't I ? I'm going to. This is 1852. 1852. Not the Dark Ages.
And:
Buck Cantrell: They sure do educate them differently in the North.
Julie: All the girls are educated differently. She probably knows Calculus.
Zette is very funny:
"O wee, Miss Julie diz sho is de mos elegen-sus dress mmm hmmm."
"It's like I was struck dumb in both ears..mmmm."
