I feel so stupid when I'm asking this, but...

...what does Jezebel actually means? I haven't seen to movie (although I must to!), but I was wondering why did it get that name... Please don't laugh at my question. :)

Thanks alredy!

Jezebel is a reference to the bible. Fay Bainter's character mentions this in the movie; she insinuates that Julie (Bette Davis), who provoked a duel between men that resulted in one's death, is very much like Jezebel.

Bainter's line is (more or less) "I'm thinking of a woman named Jezebel, who did wrong in the sight of God." Many people over the years have confused/combined the characters of Julie Marsden and "Jezebel" until some actually think "Jezebel," not "Julie," is the character's name. Even Davis, in one of her autobiographies, said (more or less) "A painting of me as Jezebel was sold..."

Please don't feel stupid about it, not even most Christians study the old stories of the Bible anymore. If they remember anything from Sunday School, it is a watered down children's version, and that, not too accurately.

Queen Jezebel was the wife of King Ahab, and they had several of the MAJOR prophets of God do astounding miracles before them to prove that the god, Baal, whose worship Jezebel introduced to the sons of Abraham was a false god, and particularly irritated the God of Abraham Father of the nation of Israel, Isaac and Jacob, of Moses and King David, a great deal.

It only made Jezebel more angry.

Finally after much effort to set them straight, He had His prophets prophecy their demise. Both died precisely as prophets said they would.

Jezebel is famous for leading particularly young men that she seduced, bizarrely, into a life of homsexuality, sadism, masochism, orgies, and other bizarre conduct, possibly used to entice such young men to be available for Ahab's entertainment.
Then in the New Testament, in the Book of Revelations, the first three chapters are Letters to the Seven Churches, and one of them includes a congregation THAT TOLERATES the worshippers who have followed a "Jezebel" and led them astray from the True Worship of the God of Israel, and they were tolerated, and apparently proudly, just as PC standards today demand in America.
But the Letter to the Angel of that Church foretells great doom for those who follow and tolerate her, and her practice of leading young men astray to basically worship of the human carnality and the flesh.

God displays a remarkable sense of humor in his dealing with them, as demonstrated in the prophet Micaiah dealing with King Ahab in this Old Testament reference, which may come across better in a Modern English translation:
1Ki 22:4 And he said unto Jehoshaphat, Wilt thou go with me to battle to Ramothgilead? And Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, I [am] as thou [art], my people as thy people, my horses as thy horses.
1Ki 22:5 ¶ And Jehoshaphat said unto the king of Israel, Enquire, I pray thee, at the word of the LORD to day.
1Ki 22:6 Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, about four hundred men, and said unto them, Shall I go against Ramothgilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up; for the Lord shall deliver [it] into the hand of the king.
1Ki 22:7 And Jehoshaphat said, [Is there] not here a prophet of the LORD besides, that we might enquire of him?
1Ki 22:8 And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, [There is] yet one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may enquire of the LORD: but I hate him; for he doth not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.
1Ki 22:9 Then the king of Israel called an officer, and said, Hasten [hither] Micaiah the son of Imlah.
1Ki 22:10 And the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah sat each on his throne, having put on their robes, in a void place in the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets prophesied before them.
1Ki 22:11 And Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made him horns of iron: and he said, Thus saith the LORD, With these shalt thou push the Syrians, until thou have consumed them.
1Ki 22:12 And all the prophets prophesied so, saying, Go up to Ramothgilead, and prosper: for the LORD shall deliver [it] into the king's hand.
1Ki 22:13 ¶ And the messenger that was gone to call Micaiah spake unto him, saying, Behold now, the words of the prophets [declare] good unto the king with one mouth: let thy word, I pray thee, be like the word of one of them, and speak [that which is] good.
1Ki 22:14 And Micaiah said, [As] the LORD liveth, what the LORD saith unto me, that will I speak.
1Ki 22:15 So he came to the king. And the king said unto him, Micaiah, shall we go against Ramothgilead to battle, or shall we forbear? And he answered him, Go, and prosper: for the LORD shall deliver [it] into the hand of the king.
1Ki 22:16 And the king said unto him, How many times shall I adjure thee that thou tell me nothing but [that which is] true in the name of the LORD?
[APPARENTLY, MICAIAH WAS OFTEN SARCASTIC TO THIS KING.]

1Ki 22:17 ¶ And he said, I saw all Israel scattered upon the hills, as sheep that have not a shepherd: and the LORD said, These have no master: let them return every man to his house in peace.
1Ki 22:18 And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee that he would prophesy no good concerning me, but evil?
1Ki 22:19 And he said, Hear thou therefore the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on his throne, and all the host of heaven standing by him on his right hand and on his left.
1Ki 22:20 And the LORD said, Who shall persuade Ahab, that he may go up and fall at Ramothgilead? And one said on this manner, and another said on that manner.
1Ki 22:21 And there came forth a spirit, and stood before the LORD, and said, I will persuade him.
1Ki 22:22 And the LORD said unto him, Wherewith? And he said, I will go forth, and I will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou shalt persuade [him], and prevail also: go forth, and do so.
1Ki 22:23 Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil concerning thee.

What does Jezebel actually mean?

In the Old Testament she was an evil queen. Here's a link which should give you the basics:

Jezebel

(died c. 843 BC) In the Hebrew scriptures, the wife of King Ahab of Israel. The daughter of the priest-king Ethbaal of Tyre and Sidon, she persuaded Ahab to introduce the worship of the Tyrian god Baal-Melkart into Israel, thus interfering with the exclusive worship of Yahweh. The book of 1 Kings tells how she was opposed by Elijah. After Ahab's death Jezebel's son Jehoram became king of Israel, but Elisha encouraged a general, Jehu, to revolt. Jehoram was killed, and Jezebel was thrown from a window to her death. Dogs consumed most of her body, fulfilling a prophecy by Elijah. In history and literature she became the archetype of the wicked woman. (Concise Brittanica)

I believe the reference refers to Julie's attempt to set her own standards of behaviour, rather than 'worship' the traditions of the New Orleans of 1852...

Why not just google the word "Jezebel"? You'd get a much quicker answer.

I think Aunt Belle was referring to Julie trying to lure the married Pres away from Amy, his wife.
