But I guess he was supposed to be, so I just don't understand Julie's attraction to Pres.

I agree. Sort of like Scarlett being stuck on Ashley, when Rhett is clearly more her match.

haha, I completely DISAGREE. Henry Fonda was absolutely gorgeous and Pres was much more endearing and a nicer person than Buck.

But you are, Blanche. You are in that chair!

Plus Fonda was a much better actor than Brent, and aged better also. By the 50's Brent was fat and bald.

Definitely not! Preston was much better poking than Buck and more dignified. I can see why any girl would want him. Henry would have been better to be cast as Ashley than Leslie Howard who was the one horrible actor in GWTW.

Actually, Leslie Howard's acting wasn't bad, he was just too old and miscast.

I didn't mean he was a bad actor, but I was talking about him not fitting the role in the physical form. Henry Fonda would have been quite good in the role, but I don't think they would have wanted him to keep the dark hair.

I always liked Henry Fonda but when it comes to George Brent I get weak in the knees. He was very handsome and he and Bette Davis had far more chemistry then she did with Fonda. One of the sad parts of the movie is that Julie doesn't realize that the man for her is Buck and not Pres just as Scarlett in GWTW obsesses over a man who could never make her happy until she drives the real man for her away.
