Don't see what the big deal is about this movie

A solid comedy but very rarely did I laugh a hearty laugh during this movie. 7/10

The pacing didn't bother me, the comedic quality didn't bother me and I've known at least two women like Katherine Hepburn's character so her character didn't bother me. I can tell you this from experience, a woman will only stay like that if she senses she can. She KNOWS what she's doing is wrong but seems to relish in the fact that she can be both obnoxious and have people do her bidding at her will. Once she gets around someone, male or female, whose sense of reality is stronger than hers, it will change slightly.
How it changes is the energy remains the same but her focus changes. She becomes more relaxed and confident and becomes all that she can be instead of someone who is so insecure and overacts in public and private situations.
IMO - this movie didn't allow her character to become all that she could be soon enough if at all. That's why I rated this movie the way I did. No matter the genre of the movie, I like to know the trip I've taken has been worthwhile and this movie, while funny, doesn't allow Hepburn's character to complete her journey.
I know the ending once she relaxes and becomes who she was always meant to be but it didn't happen in the movie and that's the part that's disappointing.

On a side note - the whole jail scene was brilliant! I laughed virtually start to finish throughout the whole scene. Reminiscent of the comedic genius behind the skit "Who's on first?"

I couldn't put my finger on why the ending left me unsatisfied, but you hit the nail on the head for sure! It was kind've fun to see Hepburn as this madcap gal hunting a sort of deer-in-the-headlights Grant - up to a point. The whole movie, she's just brainstorming & flitting about and she never stand still long enough to just be herself - she's so fixated on catching Grant. While he admits to having fun w/ her and the ending was okay, there needed to be some scene - a slow one - where they have some kind of heart-to-heart connection to see eachother for who they really were. Otherwise, their only real connection was this zany day they shared, but they really had no other connection to eachother.

This movie reminded me of a Bruce Willis movie many years ago called "Blind Date". Very funny, and although there's no wild animal in it, the general relationship between the guy & girl are similar to this one - only I think Blind Date worked better.

I thought the movie was funny but also don't really see the big deal in it and don't get how it could be considered better than her other movie that came out that year, Holiday. I like this movie, I LOVE Holiday.
