Can I get anyone's thoughts on the function of George the dog in the film? I need ideas for a piece I'm writing for uni.

Hope this is not too late:

1. Plot glue (such as it is): gives Hepburn and Grant (and thereby the audience) chance to become better acquainted with each other during their search for the missing bone.

2. Comic relief: digging up (multiple) boots in search of bone.

3. Dramatic tension: fight between dog and leopard.
