The large barrel like abdomen gives it away. "Leopard" is easier to pronounce though.

I looked at the cat pictures in the movie years ago, with this question in mind, and my verdict was leopard not jaguar. The face structure makes it clear. This question could have been avoided if only the writers had done better research in writing Susan's line where she names the continent where her brother got the beast from.
