Saturday Kiddie Matinees in the Fifties

Saw this at seven or eight years old at Saturday kiddie matinées and was totally enthralled. Usually, we boys hated when they had the 'mushy' stuff but in this movie we loved Olivia de Haviland. Funny, but I remember this film as being the first time I understood something of the male-female dynamic and how each 'betters' and affirms the other. Oh, that Technicolor! It was like Rembrandt!

If you liked it at the kiddie matinee, I recommend that you get the DVD. I'm not usually big on the special features aspect of DVD's, but this one has about three hours of them, including a one-hour feature on the history of Technicolor (including a few bits from one of my other favorite films, 'A Matter of Life and Death' [aka 'Stairway to Heaven']), one on the making of the film, and so much more!

I'll get it from the library - thanks!

That is so sweet!--and very appropriate, since Flynn and de Havilland are one of the greatest film duos of all time.
