Finally got to see this classic

Spectacular production.
Whatever technology was available for filming in color in the 1930s much have been both difficult and expensive -- but they made the most of it.

Also this production explains a number of "in" jokes in "The Court Jester" and "Robin Hood: Men in Tights".

There's a funny little feature on the DVD I have that shows Olivia standing there holding a card with a bunch of colors on it. They had to calibrate the technicolor cameras, so they needed the actual talent to do this. The look of annoyance on her face is adorable.

Hitler! C'mon, I'll buy you a glass of lemonade.

Sounds wonderful. Thanks.
Now I'll have to borrow it from my neighbor again to see if that clip is on her DVD.

"The time has come," the Walrus said,
   "To talk of many things,"

Of atoms, stars and nebulæ,
   Of entropy and genes;
   And whether one can bend space;
   And why the spaceship shrinks.

I'm watching it for the first time, thanks yet again to TCM. Enjoying every minute.

No tricks, no CGI, just actors and stunt men doing their jobs. It's so refreshing, and I love it!

To this day, the 1938 movie "The Adventures of Robin Hood" remains THE definitive cinematic depiction of the Robin Hood tale.
