I'm not sure if he was supposed to have been shown in flashback or just as a corpse in a casket, but I'm fairly certain it was his first movie. Certainly his first prominent one.

BTW: I was surprised to see Elisha Cook Jr. as Mary's boyfriend! I almost didn't recognize him. Of course, he'd had a few roles before that. It took a while before he became a familiar character actor.
