WHY THE beep WAS THE CASTLE SO EMPTY?

When I was young, this movie had a creepy vibe to it. I don't why but this movie does a really great job for maintaining an atmosphere of suspense and making the setting feel isolated in a creepy way like The Shining. I was often curious why the castle was so empty and the music that plays whenever the castle is shown gets on my nerves everytime as a kid. I'm curious about Stephen King's opinion on this movie lol.

So what do you think happened? Did the Queen commit a genocide against all the people she thought were going to be fairer than her? After all, there were plenty of skeletons in the dungeon and the dwarves said themselves that already knew the Queen was evil...even before Snow White met them. Even the Grumpy knows that she's a witch.

It think it was just so because it was the ''first'' Disney movie. It was allready hard enough to make, and they wanted everything to look ''realistic''. They also had problems drawing the prince, thats why his part was so little.

With due respect, you are looking WAY too into it.

This is meant to be a representation of a fairy tale world, not a realistic medieval kingdom. The sense of isolation and dread was likely why the castle is empty-- it's a kind of dream logic, meant to evoke the experience of reading an old folk story and also meant to contrast with the warmth and familial rapport Snow White gets when she hangs out with the dwarfs.
