Asta the dog!

So I see Asta the dog from The Thin Man movies is here in another Cary Grant movie. Asta is a wonderful dog and so very popular. His name is Mr. Smith in this movie. Ha Ha Ha Ha. This movie is a hoot! She just won custody of the dog by showing him his toy that was in her muff!!! Ha Ha Ha Ha again. This Aunt Patty is great too. The older women in these movies were always so smart and sophisticated looking. I'm watching this right now on TCM. The commentator described Ralph Bellamy as always playing "a big dumb oaf" in these movies. Imagine saying this about a man that played Roosevelt in Sunrise At Campobello. This is hysterical stuff.

I thought that was Asta! The doggie was so adorable hiding his face to play hide and seek.

This was a really fun movie, and Asta (Mr Smith) added a lot to it!

I love seeing dogs (and animals in general) act in any movie or TV show. I'm amazed at the things they can learn.

I have three dogs. I also have two parrots that can talk. It's fun to see how many things they can learn.

Moose as Eddie the dog in Frasier, yes yes. I had forgotten about him. The first few years of Frasier were hilarious with lots of scenes with Eddie!!! I remember a show called, Wishbone, on Ch. 13. The dog looked like Eddie. That was a great kid's show encouraging kids to read the classics. Wishbone was always dressed up as a character in the stories. I even bought a Wishbone stuffed dog dressed up in a top hat and tux. Loved that show too!!!!!! I also have 5 small dogs, a few cats, a bird and two turtles. Dare I say I love animals!!! LOL

I loved the show Wishbone as a child. It was also very educational--I learned a lot about classic literature from it.

I enjoy movie dogs too especially Asta. I lost my dog to an illness a few months ago. I miss him so much. Asta cheers me up a bit so I don't feel quite so sad.

i adored asta's performance as mr smith, especially the hat-hiding scene. hilarious!

anyone else have a jolly good laugh near the end of the film, whilst lucy and jerry were sleeping in separate rooms and the cat was blocking the door by standing on its hind legs?

my sympathies for the loss of your dog rachel. i'm quite glad seeing asta cheered you a bit.

cheers.

Tomorrow is another day

Thanks for your kind words. I am currently watching The Thin Man movies. I love Asta! My dog was a beagle/german shepard mix he was 13 years old and his name was chainey he had a degenerative nerve disorder at the end of his life he was unable to walk but he was a joy to me to the end. I hope someday to get another dog. Until then, I enjoy Asta and other movie dogs I like. I actually didn't see all of the aweful truth yet. I need to see the rest of the movie soon.

Some of the biggest laughs I had while watching this movie were because of the amazing and adorable Asta! I love him so much and thought it was him :)

It means exactly the same thing here in the USA!

But it also means a cylindrical furry sonething or other that you put your body parts in to keep warm.

On second thought, that's the first meaning too, so never mind.

I asked the doctor to take your picture so I can look at you from inside as well.
