Barbie Doll Dunne
In the Awful Truth Irene Dunne was the prototype of the Barbie Doll of her times. Her dresses and hats were mostly outrageous. Magnificent.

is that so? rather interesting! thx we2. i daresay some of lucy's outfits were rather unusual and unique but suited irene dunne quite well.
cheers!
I thought her outfits were hideous.
All those architectural details, WTF? That number with the Flash Gordon piping around the shoulders, *shudder*. I expected Dunne to get her ray gun at any moment and zap Miss Vance to oblivion.
I don't think other women dressed like this in the 30's - the other actresses seemed to be dressed in more rational-lookng clothes.

Evolution takes no prisoners.
If you've ever seen any of Dunne's movies pre-Show Boat in 1936, she had a much fuller figue. She's obviously slimmed down a great deal for "Awful Truth"
The ermine coat she makes her grand entrance in alone is worth it's own screen credit!

Damn straight, skippy! Me and the missus were ogling that particular piece of costumery the entire time it was on screen.
I asked the doctor to take your picture so I can look at you from inside as well.
Anne Francis in my opinion was the Barbie prototype.
