Swiss clock
I loved the Swiss clock scenes, with Grant and Dunne as the figures in the clock.
shareI agree.
That was about the only humorous thing in the movie.
I found it creepy but when you think about it, it was probably the state of the art in special effects back then.
shareWhat in hell was "creepy" about it? Next to awesome, creepy has become on the most misused and overused words in our language.
shareWhat's creepy about spiders or ventriloquist dummies? I don't know. It's just the feeling that I got.
shareWhile it didn't strike me as creepy, I'll venture the observation that - to the extent it seemed creepy to some people - the reason was the uncanny valley.
Which, apropos of another post, is what makes ventriloquist's dummies creepy, at least sometimes and to some people.
Part of what makes the movie so extraordinary is that they get together after midnight -- so their divorce is finalized and they are having sex out of marriage, which could not be depicted in those days.
shareYeah that occurred to me as well. I was fully expecting them to be in bed together before midnight so as not to violate the prevailing sexual mores of the time.
