Bogart's Hands

Did anyone else find it creepy the way Bogart held his hands. It was like they were evil disembodied parts of himself.

I watched a documentary on the film and they said Bogart was copying John Dillinger's posture. Not sure if that's true, but it is unsettling the way he shuffles around.

I think that I read (or saw in a TV doc) that habitual arm position was once not uncommon among convicts and ex-convicts. It was apparently a habit that was ingrained by the way that the shackles constrained prisoners on chain gang.
