Admit it, didn't the sprockets and bowler hat bring "A Clockwork Orange" to mind?
Unfortunately, yet again, it will be the version Chaplin re-edited in the 1950's, not the original theatrical version. Among the cuts Chaplin made was the final verse of the nonsense song. As much as I love Chaplin, I will not be buying the Criterion re-edit releases and urge other silent film fans to do the same.
sharewell the cuts are gonna be in there because thats the way Charlie Chaplin intended the film to be like. theyre not going to go against his wishes and add the original cuts. maybe a bonus features or something like Warner did with The Gold Rush...
