People struggling for finding a job...
and survive...any resemblance to our "modern times"?
sharePeople struggling to survive is a necessity in a capitalistic society. As long as there is capitalism, a fraction of the population will starve and fight for survival. That's the common factor your are asking for. The most cruel violence is not having a job.
shareEasy Karl Marx. There is unemployment in capitalism, yes, but that does not mean people have to "starve and fight for survival". Capitalism creates so much wealth that we can redistribute it partially from the wealthy to the poor. No one in Western Europe is "starving" or fighting for survival.

Yes, but is Europe really "capitalist"? I don't think so. It's a very heavy regulated mixed economy, with elements of both capitalism and socialism. It is far, far removed from textbook Adam Smith-style capitalism.
re:

It's interesting that welfare for poor people is the only form of income redistribution we ever hear about. Conservatives whine all day about welfare for the poor. Nobody says a word about welfare for the rich and for the corporations.
