Monkey

The monkey dressed in the sailor uniform was the CUTEST and most WELL-TRAINED monkey I have ever seen in my life! Lol! I just loved it when he threw the old flowers out of the vase. As much as I enjoyed the film for Astaire and Rogers's performances, I must say that the monkey was part of the reason I liked it so much. :-)

Agreed. Little monkey = total cuteness! I liked the part where the little guy was up on top of the dresser, inspecting that ship-in-a-bottle, and the poor little thing was so confused he just couldn't figure it out. I loved the way he kept looking into the opening of the bottle, then looking at the ship, then back to the opening.... lol

That part where the cute lil monkey is puzzled about the ship in the bottle was one of my favorite parts of the whole movie, and had me laughing out loud :) He seemed like such a calm, well-behaved animal too.

He was adorable! His tossing of those flowers off the back of the piano was perfectly timed!

It was nice to see him in the final shot, on the dock between Ginger Rogers and Harriet Nelson all waving goodbye.

He was on Planet Earth the whole time!

Agree. Mike the Monkey has great comic timing in the telephone booth sequence, as well as Sherry's apartment scenes, even greeting her at the door, and entering as she shuns Bake.

Isn't it fantastic how well Ginger, Fred and Mike the Monkey work well together, and also the way he lifts onto Fred's shoulder without missing a beat?

Also agree that he adds a great touch to the ending sequence with Harriet, Ginger, Fred and Randolph.

I don't think any young woman would be pleased if her boyfriend or sort of ex-boyfriend just showed up one day and dumped a monkey on her. Too much mess, responsibility, and who knows what the hell it's doing while you're asleep?
