Those two old ladies

SPOILER

My favorite scene, in this film that I generally disliked, was the one in which Mrs. Moncaster smacks Mrs. Whack (or was it the other way round?), knocking her out cold, then says something along the lines of, 'She's my best friend, but she doesn't have any sense of business ethics.'

The two old landladies were great. I think Mrs Moncaster knocks out Mrs Whack first. That's how she won the werewolf as a lodger while Mrs Whack was out cold. Then Mrs whack get's her whack in later on. I recognised the name of the actress who played Mrs Whack. 28 years later she appeared as the ornithologist in Hitchcock's 'The Birds.'

I agree . The two old ladies offer needed comic relief......not unlike some scenes in An American werewolf in London. And if I'm not mistaken...the other old lady (the innkeeper) , played by actress Zeffie Tilbury also appeared in one of the funniest Little Rascals features ever.... as a crazy wealthy old lady who the rascals win over and eventually coax into roller skating around her house and jumping into a fountain with them!

Couldn't agree more. Zeffie Tilbury was very fun to watch in both Warewolf and Second Childhood (the Little Rascals episode). She's hilarious, and her comic timing was right on the mark!

I hate the old ladies. James Whale would integrate the comic relief into his movies, but when these two appear in WEREWOLF OF LONDON it stops the movie cold for their unfunny comedy routines.
