Question about The cat

Just before Glendon turns into a werewolf the first time, this cat goes nuts and starts growling and hissing at Glendon because he senses the werewolf.
My Question is, how did they ( the filmmakers )get the cat to do that? Was he trained or did they wave a dog near him, or something else?

In the commentary for Alien, they explain that the way you get a cat to do that is to introduce another cat whom the first one doesn't know. That's how they will react to one another.
