Is there a decent dvd yet?

It's been a while since the last discussion on the different dvds for this movie took place. Does anyone know of a decent edition with no scratches, noise or bad soundd, etc? I've got two dvds of this film, both of them crap. I want to rewatch this film the way it deserves to be watched.

The best transfer I heard of is in the Pre-Code Hollywood set, which is rare and kind of expensive. Another good transfer I heard of is Avenue One's Region 2 dvd (for European viewers).

The newest ones are all DVD-R "manufactured on demand". If you go to Amazon.com, type in "Of Human Bondage" and then select in the top right corner "Sort by: Release Date", you'll see what I mean.

I'm also trying to determine which release is best.

If you can get one from Brentwood/BCI/Eclipse/whatever it's called these days, do so - that's the best-looking one I've come across to date. I have their flipper of that and the 1950 version of Cyrano de Bergerac. Looks and sounds almost like a proper studio DVD release.

Blu Ray is coming out in a few months as well as a dvd. Should be the best quality yet
