Leslie Howard

I understand the love and commotion that has come from Bette Davis' performance but what about Leslie Howard? I just watched this film with the utmost pleasure and admiration from his work here. He created a funny and very beautiful portrait and a naturalistic one at that. Which is refreshing to see compared to all of the the over-the-top melodramatics of the usual performances back in that time.

I understand how he has been over shadowed by the fire and magic Bette Davis plays but for me, my favourite moment of this film is all Leslie Howard.

Agreed. He was incredibly romantic and vulnerable as Philip. I missed his club foot after he was made better.
