Censors and tities
How come that American censors allowed pictures of full frontal nudity in those conservative times? I always thought that 1960s were the time when boobs started to appear in American flicks.

Whether you would have seen the nudity in 1934 would have depended in part on where you viewed the movie. Local and state censors often removed stuff that the studios and the Hollywood overseers left in.
This was true even in the days of the silents. 1915's "Hypocrites" had a nude female character appearing and reappearing throughout, representing Truth. That's how it left the studio, anyway. In some cities, when local censors got down with the film, her scenes were snipped out or - even worse - clothes had been sketched onto her, frame by frame!
