preston sturges ??

the invisible man was on a list of films that preston sturges worked on, but was not credited for. does anyone know what his relation to this film was?

The credit here is inaccurate. Preston Sturges wrote an early draft for an adaption of The Invisible Man but really had no input into the final film.

Preston Sturges was then a playwright and jobbing screenwriter, doing of what would currently be called "script doctoring". He was one of a number of writers commissioned to produce a screenplay based on the novel. Sturges' story, set in post revolutionary Russia, was quite a radical departure from Wells' novel, and so was dumped; none of it was used in Whale's Film.

Sherriff and Whale went back to the novel, introducing a few elements of their own (the romantic subplot and the madness inducing drug Monocaine are not in the novel for example)
