under-rated gem

i saw this movie for the first time back in january, and i just loved it! i thought claude rains' performance was fantastic. the woman who played the inn-keeper, however, wasn't fantastic. it's such a shame that this gem is over-shadowed by "frankenstein" (1931), "dracula" (1931), and "the wolf man" (1941) so much; i believe that this is one of the greatest universal horror films of all time.

Yeah, I feel a bit ashamed to admit that for many years I never bothered to watch this movie, as the Invisible Man was a character that never appealed to me during my childhood. Just a month ago, I checked out the 'Legacy Collection' from a library & this has fast become oone of my all-time favorites. Some of my favorite scenes to watch are ones where Claude Rains is just sitting around talking (particularly with Kemp); such a great voice & great film all around (yes, I even like Una O' Connor).
