When this DVD is played on a high definition monitor, the wires used to move objects become very apparent.I hope that Universal can clean this up digitally, the way 'North By Northwest' was! I think this can be done for the wires, as well as imperfections elsewhere. It could be done as an enhancement, and an addition to Fulton's effects not a replacement for them!

I don't think they need to be removed, that's like the 'improvements' made to the Star Wars trilogy. The film was made in 1933 and most people will (or should) make allowances for that.

I agree. It would be a minor clean up not a radical 'Star Wars' like revision.
